A 775-size brushed DC motor rated for 24V, with a ball bearing at the front, a 5mm shaft with one flat and two threaded mounting holes in the front face. It is the usual size for home-built drills, grinders, sanders, pumps and small saws, and runs from a 24V supply through a PWM speed controller.

Home-built bench grinder or polisher
Small drill press or PCB drill
Belt sander or mini table saw project
24V water pump or fan project

Wiring & getting started

  1. Mount it first

Bolt through the two threaded holes in the front face (M4 size, about 29mm apart) or clamp the can. It jumps when it starts, so fix it down before the first run.

  2. Solder the wires

Solder your supply wires to the two tabs, + to the tab beside the red dot. A 0.1µF ceramic capacitor across the tabs cuts electrical noise from the brushes.

  3. Use a proper supply and controller

Use a 24V supply rated 5A or more and a PWM motor speed controller rated for 24V and the motor's current. Swap the wires to reverse it, or use an H-bridge motor driver for forward and reverse.

  4. Controlling it from a board

An Arduino or ESP32 pin cannot drive it. Switch it through a MOSFET module or motor driver with its own 24V supply, and join the grounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

What voltage does this 775 motor run on?
It is a 24V DC motor. It will also turn on a lower voltage such as 12V, just more slowly and with less power. Do not run it above 24V.
What power supply do I need?
A 24V DC supply rated 5A or more. A 775 can draw several amps under load and a surge at start-up, so a small plug-pack will cut out or overheat.
Can I run it from an Arduino or ESP32?
Not directly. A board pin can only switch the motor through a MOSFET module or a motor driver rated for the motor's current, powered from its own 24V supply with the grounds joined.
How do I control the speed and direction?
Use a PWM motor speed controller rated for 24V and several amps. The direction reverses when you swap the two wires; for forward and reverse under control, use an H-bridge motor driver.
What shaft does it have, and what fits it?
A 5mm shaft with one flat, about 19mm long, running in a 625Z ball bearing. It takes 5mm bore couplers, pulleys and 775 drill chuck adaptors; tighten the set screw onto the flat.
How do I mount it?
The front face has two threaded holes, M4 size, about 29mm apart through the shaft centre, plus a raised bearing boss about 19mm across. Try a screw and check the spacing on your motor before you print a bracket.
How fast is it and how much torque does it have?
Speed, current and torque are not marked on this motor, so we do not quote figures. Speed rises with voltage and drops with load, which is why a PWM controller is the usual way to set it.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
