Wiring & getting started

  1. Remove the damaged wire first

Peel the brown wire with the bare strands away from the ribbon before you use any of the others, so loose copper can never touch a board.

  2. Peel off what you need

Split single wires or keep a group together for a tidy I2C or SPI run.

  3. Connect with the power off

Push each socket fully onto its header pin, then check the pin names at both ends before powering up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Why is this on clearance?
One brown wire in this ribbon has pulled out of its socket at one end, so it shows bare copper strands. The other 39 wires are brand new and fully usable. It is a single pack, priced to clear.
Is there any warranty on a clearance item?
Yes. The 39 good wires carry the same 12 month warranty as the rest of our range. The damaged brown wire is the reason for the price and is not covered.
What should I do with the damaged wire?
Peel it off the ribbon before using the others so the loose copper cannot short anything. You can bin it, or cut off the bare end and use it as a single-ended lead with one good socket.
Will these fit standard header pins?
Yes. The sockets are 2.54mm pitch and fit standard 0.64mm square header pins on ESP32, Nano and Raspberry Pi boards and most sensor modules.
How much current can they carry?
Keep each wire to 0.5A or less. That covers signals and the supply to a sensor, display or small module. Run motors, LED strip and heaters from their own supply with heavier wire.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
