The FDFD2-250 is a blue fully insulated female spade crimp terminal for 1.5 to 2.5 mm² wire. It pushes onto a 6.3 x 0.8 mm male tab, and the blue sleeve covers the whole terminal, so no bare metal shows once it is fitted. For thinner 0.5 to 1.5 mm² wire, use our red fully insulated female spade terminals.

FDFD2-250 blue fully insulated female spade terminal

Sold individually. Minimum order: 5 terminals. Your selected quantity is supplied together.

Great for

Connecting 1.5 to 2.5 mm² wire to a rocker switch, relay or fuse holder tab
Covered spade joints in 12V vehicle, trailer and boat wiring
Replacing a blue female spade on an existing loom

Wiring & getting started

  1. Check the sizes with power off

The tab must be 6.3 x 0.8 mm. Smaller 4.8 mm and 2.8 mm tabs also exist and will be loose. Use wire with a conductor of 1.5 to 2.5 mm².

  2. Strip and crimp

Use a crimping tool with the blue die for insulated terminals. Strip to the length of the wire barrel without cutting strands, push the conductor in through the flared end, then crimp the barrel section of the sleeve.

  3. Inspect and fit

Check for loose strands or a split sleeve and give the wire a firm tug. Push the terminal straight onto the tab until it is fully seated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

What wire size suits the blue terminal?
Blue is the 1.5 to 2.5 mm² size. For thinner 0.5 to 1.5 mm² wire, use our red fully insulated female spade terminals.
What tab does it fit?
A 6.3 x 0.8 mm male tab, also called 1/4 inch or 250 series. It is the common size on rocker switches, relays and fuse holders. It will be loose on smaller 4.8 mm or 2.8 mm tabs.
What does fully insulated mean?
The blue sleeve covers the receptacle as well as the crimp barrel, so once it is pushed onto a tab no bare metal is left showing.
Do I need a crimping tool?
Yes. Use a crimper with a die for insulated terminals, usually the blue position. Pliers squash the sleeve and give a weak joint.
Are they waterproof?
No. The sleeve insulates but is not sealed. For engine bays, trailers or outdoor wiring, add adhesive-lined heat-shrink over the wire end.
Does a quantity of one mean one terminal?
Yes, one unit is one terminal. The minimum order is 5, with a discount at 10 and 20.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
