Solder seal butt connectors join two wires in one step with a hot-air heat gun. Each one has a solder ring in the middle and an adhesive sealing band at each end, inside a clear heat-shrink sleeve, so you can see the solder flow. Seven colour-coded sizes cover 0.25 to 10 mm² wire. Sold per connector from 10 pieces, with the price per connector dropping at 25, 50 and 100.

Wiring & getting started

  1. Isolate and slide on

    Switch off the circuit and slide the connector onto one wire before joining.

  2. Strip and overlap

    Strip only enough insulation for the bare strands to overlap fully inside the solder ring. Twist stray strands back in.

  3. Centre the join

    Place the overlapped copper under the solder ring, with both coloured bands over clean insulation.

  4. Heat, then check

    Heat the centre with a heat gun, turning the joint, until the solder wets the strands. Then shrink towards both ends until a little adhesive shows. Hold still until cool and give it a gentle pull.

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Do I need a soldering iron?
No. A hot-air heat gun does the whole job: the solder ring melts into the strands and the sleeve shrinks and seals in the same step. Avoid a lighter or open flame. It heats unevenly and can burn the sleeve before the solder has flowed.
Which colour do I need?
Choose the size where the stripped, overlapped wires fit inside the solder ring: White 0.25-0.34 mm² (24-26 AWG), Red 0.5-1.5 mm² (18-22 AWG), Green 0.75-1.5 mm² (16-18 AWG), Blue 1.5-2.5 mm² (14-16 AWG), Purple 2.5-4 mm² (12-14 AWG), Yellow 4-6 mm² (10-12 AWG), Orange 6-10 mm² (8-10 AWG). If you are between two sizes, use the smaller one that still slides over the join.
Can I join two different wire sizes?
Yes, as long as both bare conductors fit inside the solder ring together. Choose the size for the thicker pair, not the thinner wire.
Are they waterproof?
Yes, once fully shrunk. The adhesive band at each end melts and seals around the wire insulation as the sleeve shrinks. A little adhesive showing at both ends means the seal is made.
Can I use them on mains wiring?
No. Use them for low-voltage work such as 12V and 24V vehicle, trailer, boat, solar, LED and electronics wiring. Mains wiring in New Zealand needs a licensed electrician and approved fittings.
Why is there a 10-piece minimum?
They are low-cost parts, so we sell them from 10 pieces per size to keep the price per connector low. The price per connector drops automatically at 25, 50 and 100 pieces.
