Pre-wired 5mm diffused LEDs with a built-in current-limiting resistor — connect directly to a 12V DC supply and they light up instantly. No resistor calculations or external components required.

  • Built-in resistor matched for 12V
  • 20cm pre-tinned lead wires
  • Heat shrink protected solder joint
  • Wide-angle diffused lens
  • Six colours available

Ready To Connect

The resistor is already soldered inside the heat shrink tubing near the LED, making these ideal for automotive electronics, CCTV installations, alarm panels, caravan wiring, and any 12V DC indicator application.

Please note: Each LED is sold individually. Choose your colour from the variant dropdown.

How To Connect

Wire Polarity

Red wire → Positive supply (+12V DC)
Black wire → Ground / negative (−)

Where It Fits

Suitable for automotive electronics, CCTV cameras, alarm panels, LED drivers, caravan and marine wiring, and any regulated 12V DC supply. The built-in resistor handles current limiting automatically — no extra components required.

Please note: Reverse polarity won't damage the LED but it won't light up. Voltages above 12V will shorten LED life.

Common Uses

Automotive dashboard indicators
CCTV and security panel lights
Alarm and switchboard indicators
Caravan, RV, and marine wiring
12V control panels and consoles
Model, diorama, and miniature lighting
Please note: These LEDs are polarity-sensitive and will not illuminate if wired backwards.

Common Questions

Do I need an external resistor?

No — the resistor is built into the wiring under the heat shrink tubing, matched specifically for 12V operation.

Can I use these with an Arduino or 5V supply?

No — these are designed for 12V only. For Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi GPIO use, choose our 5V pre-wired LED variant instead.

Will it work in a 12V vehicle?

Yes — automotive electrical systems typically sit between 12V and 14V, which is well within these LEDs' tolerance.

What happens if I wire the polarity backwards?

The LED simply won't light up. Switch the red and black wires around and it will work normally.

Are these diffused or clear LEDs?

Diffused — they produce a softer, wider-angle glow rather than a focused beam, which makes them easier to see from multiple angles as an indicator.

Please note: Each LED is sold based on the quatlity selected unless otherwise stated.

Why buy from NZN

International prices. None of the international wait.

We're a small Kiwi-owned shop, and we stock the same boards and parts you'd usually order from overseas, for about the same price. The only real difference is they ship from Te Awamutu, so you get them in a few days instead of waiting weeks.

Run by Kiwis, here in Te Awamutu

We're NZ owned and operated, and every order is picked, packed and sent from our place in Te Awamutu, Waikato.

Get it in days, not weeks

Order before 8am and it ships the same day, otherwise within 24 hours guaranteed. No waiting three to six weeks for a parcel to crawl over from overseas.

Low prices are the goal

As a maker myself, I want New Zealand to have a genuine low-price local option for electronics, not overpriced shelves or a long wait on an international parcel.

Checked, and easy to sort if it's not right

We test things before they go out, and if something's off you've got 30 day returns, a 12 month warranty and a real person in NZ to email.

Packed and sent by a fellow maker, right here in Te Awamutu.
