Wiring & getting started

  1. Choose the matching voltage

    Use the 5V version with a regulated 5V DC supply or the 12V version with a regulated 12V DC supply.

  2. Connect positive

    Connect the red wire to the positive supply.

  3. Connect negative

    Connect the black wire to negative or ground.

  4. Power and check

    Apply power from the matching regulated DC supply. If the LED does not light, disconnect power and recheck the polarity and supply voltage.

Do I need an external resistor?
No. A resistor is already fitted under the heat-shrink.
Can I connect the 5V version to 12V?
No. Select the version rated for your supply voltage.
Which wire is positive?
Red is positive (+) and black is negative (-).
Are these diffused or clear LEDs?
These LEDs have a diffused lens for a softer indicator glow.
How many are supplied?
They are sold individually. Choose the colour, voltage and quantity required.
Can I drive one directly from a microcontroller GPIO?
Power it from the matching regulated supply. If you want to switch it from a GPIO, use a suitable transistor or driver and check the controller's current limits.
