The ESP32-S3 Zero fits a full dual-core ESP32-S3 into 23.5 x 18 mm. Two Xtensa LX7 cores at up to 240MHz with vector instructions for on-device ML, 4MB of flash alongside 2MB of PSRAM, 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 5 (LE), and a USB-C port the chip drives natively so there is no driver to chase. The edges are castellated with plated through-holes, so you can fit the supplied headers and breadboard it today, then reflow the same board straight onto your own carrier later.

Good to know: Logic is 3.3V and the GPIO are not 5V tolerant, so level shift anything running at 5V. Program it through the free Arduino IDE (install the Espressif esp32 board package, select ESP32S3 Dev Module, set USB CDC On Boot to Enabled and PSRAM to QSPI PSRAM), or use PlatformIO, MicroPython, CircuitPython or ESPHome. Plug in with a USB-C data cable; if no port appears, hold BOOT, tap RESET, then release BOOT.

What is the Zero form factor?
A very small board with castellated edges plus plated through-holes. That means you can fit the supplied headers and use it on a breadboard, or reflow the whole board onto your own PCB like a module. At 23.5 x 18mm it is one of the smallest boards in the ESP32 family.
Does it really have PSRAM?
Yes. The chip is an ESP32-S3FH4R2, which carries 4MB of flash and 2MB of PSRAM in the same package, on top of the 512KB of SRAM in the silicon. The PSRAM is what makes camera buffers, larger TinyML models and bigger display framebuffers practical on a board this size.
Are the header pins fitted?
No. Two 2.54mm male header strips are supplied loose in the bag so you can choose straight, right-angle or low-profile, or skip them entirely and reflow the board by its castellated edges.
Can it act as a USB keyboard or mouse?
Yes. The ESP32-S3 has native USB OTG, so it can present as a USB HID device (keyboard, mouse, gamepad) as well as a serial port, without any bridge chip.
Does it need a driver?
No. The chip drives USB itself and enumerates as a native USB Serial/JTAG device, so Windows, macOS and Linux all see it with the driver already in the operating system. There is no CH340 or CP2102 on this board. Use a USB-C data cable, not a charge-only one.
How does it compare to the ESP32-C3 SuperMini?
The C3 SuperMini is a single-core RISC-V board with 13 GPIO and no PSRAM, and it is the cheaper option for simple WiFi and BLE jobs. The S3 Zero is dual-core, adds 2MB of PSRAM and vector instructions for ML, and breaks out 26 GPIO including eight pads on the underside. Pick the S3 Zero when you need the GPIO count, the memory or the USB HID support.
Which board do I select in the Arduino IDE?
Install the Espressif esp32 board package, then choose ESP32S3 Dev Module and set USB CDC On Boot to Enabled. Without that setting the Serial Monitor stays blank because the console is routed to the UART pins instead of USB.
How do I drive the onboard RGB LED?
It is a single WS2812 addressable LED on GPIO21. Use the Adafruit NeoPixel or FastLED library with one pixel on pin 21. There is no plain on/off LED on this board.
