Wiring & getting started

  1. Check the fit with power disconnected

Match the male tab's width and thickness to 6.35 x 0.8 mm. Select wire with a conductor cross-section of 0.5-1.5 mm² and confirm its insulation fits the sleeve.

  2. Prepare the wire and crimping tool

Use a tool and die intended for insulated terminals and your wire size. Strip to the wire-barrel length without cutting strands, then insert the conductor fully.

  3. Crimp and inspect

Crimp the wire barrel according to the tool instructions. Check for escaped strands, damaged insulation or a distorted receptacle. Confirm that the wire is secure and the terminal seats firmly on the tab.

  4. Protect the exposed contact

The metal receptacle remains uncovered. Fit suitable insulation or an enclosure where it could touch adjacent conductors or be touched during use. Disconnect power before fitting or removing the terminal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Which male blade tab does this terminal fit?
Use a 6.35 x 0.8 mm male blade tab, measured as width x thickness. Check both dimensions and confirm a firm fit with power disconnected.
What wire size should I use?
Use wire with a conductor cross-section of 0.5-1.5 mm². Also check that its insulation fits the red sleeve and that your crimping die suits the terminal and wire size.
Which part is insulated?
The red sleeve covers the wire barrel. The metal receptacle remains exposed, so fit suitable insulation or an enclosure where contact with adjacent conductors or people could occur.
Do I need a crimping tool?
Yes. Use a tool and die intended for insulated terminals and your chosen wire size. Follow the tool instructions and inspect the finished crimp before applying power.
Does a quantity of one mean one terminal or a pack?
One unit means one terminal. The minimum order is 5 terminals, and your selected quantity is supplied together.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
