Wiring & getting started

  1. Prepare the panel

Use the nominal 18.8 x 12.7 mm opening as a starting point, then trial-fit a sample before cutting a production panel.

  2. Connect the switched conductor

Connect one side of the conductor to each terminal. The two terminals are not polarised.

  3. Check the contact state

Press I for a closed contact and O for an open contact. Isolate power before checking or changing wiring.

Note: For mains work, switch the active conductor rather than protective earth. Use a suitable enclosure, insulated terminals, strain relief and wiring rated for the circuit. Mains installation should be completed by a suitably qualified person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Is this the KCD1 or the smaller KCD11 switch?
This is the 21 x 15 mm KCD1 rectangular switch. It is not the smaller 15 x 10 mm KCD11 type.
Does the switch light up?
No. This is a non-illuminated black rocker switch.
How are the two terminals wired?
Connect one side of the conductor being switched to each terminal. The terminals are not polarised. Press I to close the contact and O to open it.
What panel opening should I use?
The reference opening is 18.8 x 12.7 mm. Panel thickness and tool tolerance affect the fit, so trial-fit one switch before cutting a production panel.
Can it be used on 230 V mains?
The stock is marked 6 A 250 VAC and 10 A 125 VAC. For mains work, use a suitable enclosure, insulated terminals, strain relief and correctly rated wiring, and have installation completed by a suitably qualified person.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
