Wiring & getting started

  1. Switch off every supply

    Disconnect motor power, logic power and USB before inserting or wiring the module.

  2. Match every pin label

    Confirm VM, GND, VIO, DIR, STEP and EN against the carrier board. Do not rely on the board outline alone.

  3. Connect the motor phases

    Connect one winding to M1A and M1B, and the other winding to M2A and M2B.

  4. Fit the heatsink correctly

    Remove the protective film and place the flat adhesive base on the large gold thermal area on the reverse of the board.

  5. Choose the control mode

    Set the carrier-board jumpers and firmware for standalone STEP/DIR or UART operation.

  6. Start conservatively

    Begin at a low current setting, make a short slow move, then check motor direction and driver temperature.

Note: Never connect or disconnect motor windings while VM is powered. The module supplier states a 1.4 A maximum and recommends no more than 1.2 A with suitable cooling. Actual current capability depends on heatsink contact, airflow and the assembled machine.

Can I replace an A4988, TMC2209 or another StepStick driver with this module?
The board uses the common 2 x 8, 2.54 mm plug-in format, but socket orientation, signal routing and current settings vary. Match every pin label against the carrier board before applying power.
Do I have to use UART?
No. The module can run from conventional STEP/DIR signals in standalone mode. UART is available when the carrier board and firmware are configured for it.
Where does the heatsink go?
Fit the flat adhesive base to the large gold thermal area on the reverse of the board. Remove the protective film first and keep the heatsink clear of pins and the current-adjust trimmer.
How much current can it supply?
The module supplier states a 1.4 A maximum and recommends no more than 1.2 A with suitable cooling. Actual usable current depends on heatsink contact, airflow, supply voltage and the assembled machine, so start conservatively and monitor temperature.
Which standalone microstep settings are available?
The supplier table lists 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 step selections using MS1 and MS2. Follow the board diagram for the exact HIGH and LOW settings.
Can I connect the motor while the board is powered?
No. Switch off VM and logic power before connecting or disconnecting the motor, inserting the module, or changing carrier-board wiring.
