A 16mm panel-mount latching stop switch with a red mushroom head. Press it and the button locks down; twist the head clockwise to release it. One changeover contact on C / NO / NC tabs, silver-alloy contacts, an IP65 front face once panel-mounted, and a drop-in fit for a 16mm cutout. Built for hobby machines, workshop benches and prototype control panels. It carries no stated safety certification, so please don't make it the only thing standing between an operator and a moving machine.

Wiring & getting started

  1. Drill a 16mm hole

    Mount the switch through the panel and secure it with the supplied nut and anti-rotation plate. Allow about 30mm of depth behind the panel for the body and terminals, plus room for the wiring to leave the tabs.

  2. Wire the NC contact

    Run C and NC in series with your machine's enable signal or power. NC is closed at rest and opens when the button latches down, so a broken wire opens the circuit too rather than hiding the fault.

  3. Crimp or solder to the tabs

    Terminals are 2.8 × 0.5mm tabs taking up to 0.75mm² wire. Use 2.8mm crimp spades, or solder at no more than 230°C for under 3 seconds.

  4. Check your ratings, then test it

    3A at 250VAC or 5A at 30VDC. For anything heavier, switch a contactor or relay coil instead of the load. Press the button, confirm the machine actually stops, twist to release, then reset your controller.

Please note: This is a latching stop switch sold for hobby, workshop and prototype use. The supplier states no safety certification for it and we make no claim of ISO 13850 or IEC 60947-5-5 compliance, so it shouldn't be the sole protective device on machinery that can cause injury - use a certified safety component for that. The IP65 rating covers the front face only, so the rear of the switch belongs inside an enclosure. Mains AC wiring must be carried out by a licensed electrician to local standards. Requires a 16mm panel cutout.

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

How do I reset the button after pressing it?
Twist the mushroom head clockwise until it clicks and pops back up. It does not need to be pulled. You will usually also need to reset or restart your machine's controller before it will run again.
Should I wire the NO or the NC contact?
Use NC for a stop function. It is closed at rest and opens when the button latches down, so a broken wire or loose terminal opens the circuit too rather than hiding the fault. Use NO only if you need something to switch on when the button is pressed.
What size hole do I need to drill, and how much room does it need behind the panel?
16mm diameter. The switch mounts through the panel and secures with the supplied nut and anti-rotation plate. Allow about 30mm of depth behind the panel for the body and terminals, plus a little more for the wiring leaving the tabs. The supplier does not specify a maximum panel thickness.
Is it suitable for outdoor or wet environments?
The IP65 front face handles coolant spray, oil mist and washdown once the switch is mounted in a panel. It is not rated for submersion, and the rear terminals are not sealed, so the back of the switch needs to sit inside an enclosure. In short: the front can get wet, the back cannot.
Is this a certified safety component?
No. It carries no safety certification and we make no claim of compliance with ISO 13850 or IEC 60947-5-5. It has no certified positive-opening contact mechanism, so do not rely on it as the only protective device on machinery that can injure someone. It is sold for hobby, workshop and prototype use.
Can it switch mains power directly?
It is rated 3A at 250VAC, so it can switch small mains loads, but mains wiring must be carried out by a licensed electrician to local standards. For anything heavier than 3A, use it to switch a contactor or relay coil instead of the load itself.
