A single-row male pin header with 40 straight pins at the standard 2.54mm (0.1 inch) spacing. It snaps cleanly to any length, so you can fit pins to a sensor module, Nano, ESP32 board or your own PCB and plug it into a breadboard, a female header or Dupont jumper leads. If you need the pins to point out sideways, parallel to the board, use the right-angle 1x40 header.

1×
2.54mm 1x40 straight male header strip

One 40-pin strip per unit. Buy 5 or more for the bulk prices shown above.

Great for

Fitting pins to a sensor module so it plugs into a breadboard
Adding headers to an ESP32, Nano or Pico-style board
Making plug-in connection points on your own PCB
Replacing a damaged or missing header on a module
Adding test points to stripboard for Dupont jumper leads
Building stackable adaptor and shield boards

Wiring & getting started

  1. Snap to length

Count the pins you need, then bend the strip at the notch with flat-nose pliers or your fingers. It breaks cleanly between two pins. Side cutters work too if you cut in the notch, not through a pin.

  2. Short side into the board

The short ends go through the board and get soldered. The long ends are the connector side. For a module, push the long ends into a breadboard first and sit the module on top, so the pins stay straight while you solder.

  3. Solder and check

Tack one end pin, check the strip sits flat, then solder the rest. Keep each joint quick so the plastic does not soften, and check for bridges between neighbouring pins before powering up.

  4. Connect

Plug the finished pins into a breadboard or a female header, or use female Dupont jumper wires.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Will it fit a breadboard and Dupont jumper wires?
Yes. The pins are on the standard 2.54mm (0.1 inch) spacing used by breadboards, female headers and Dupont jumper sockets. Female Dupont ends push straight onto the long pins.
How do I get the length I need?
Snap it. Bend the strip at the notch after the last pin you want, with flat-nose pliers or your fingers, and it breaks cleanly between two pins. You can take any number from 1 to 40 pins from one strip.
Which side goes into the board?
The short ends go through the board and get soldered. The long ends are the connector side, for a breadboard, female header or jumper lead.
Is the price for one pin or a whole strip?
A whole strip. Each unit is one 40-pin strip. Buying 5, 10 or 25 strips lowers the price per strip, as shown in the bulk price table.
Do I need the straight or the right-angle version?
Straight pins stand up from the board, which is what you want for breadboards and most modules. Right-angle pins point out sideways, parallel to the board, for side-entry plugs and low connections. We stock both in 1x40 strips.
Do the pins need soldering?
Yes. They are through-hole pins and need soldering for a reliable connection. Pushing a board onto loose pins without solder gives intermittent contact.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
