Common Questions
What resistor do I need with this LED?
Use the formula: R = (Vsupply − Vforward) / Iforward. For a typical 2mm green LED with a forward voltage of ~2.0–2.2V and forward current of ~20mA, a 150Ω resistor is suitable at 5V, or 68Ω at 3.3V. Always use a current-limiting resistor to avoid burning out the LED.
Which leg is the anode (positive)?
The longer leg is the anode (+) and the shorter leg is the cathode (−). If the legs have been trimmed, look for the flat edge on the LED body — the flat side indicates the cathode.
Please note: Sold individually (1 piece per order). Always use a current-limiting resistor — connecting directly to a power supply without one will damage the LED.
