The DS18B20 is a waterproof digital temperature probe with a 1 metre cable and bare wire ends. It provides accurate temperature readings using the Dallas 1-Wire protocol and works with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, ESPHome, and other microcontroller platforms.

  • Waterproof stainless steel probe design
  • 1 metre cable with bare wire ends
  • Digital 1-Wire communication
  • Compatible with 3.3V and 5V systems
  • Ideal for liquid, outdoor, and temperature monitoring projects

Quick Start

1
Connect VCC

Connect the red wire to 3.3V or 5V.

2
Connect DATA

Connect the yellow wire to any digital GPIO pin.

3
Connect GND

Connect the black wire to GND.

4
Add pull-up resistor

Use a 4.7kΩ resistor between VCC and DATA for reliable communication.

Please note: A 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor is required between VCC and DATA for normal operation.

Getting Started

1
Wire the sensor

Red → VCC, Yellow → DATA, Black → GND.

2
Add pull-up resistor

Connect a 4.7kΩ resistor between VCC and DATA.

3
Install Arduino libraries

Install OneWire and DallasTemperature from the Arduino Library Manager.

4
Upload example code

Use a DS18B20 example sketch to verify communication and temperature readings.

Typical wiring: Red → 5V, Yellow → D2, Black → GND, with a 4.7kΩ resistor between D2 and 5V.

What's Included

DS18B20 waterproof temperature probe

1 metre cable with stainless steel waterproof probe and bare wire ends.

Please note: 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor is required but not included.

Common Uses

Aquarium and fish tank temperature monitoring
Pool and spa temperature sensing
Hydroponics and soil temperature measurement
Fermentation and brewing projects
ESPHome and Home Assistant sensor nodes
Industrial pipe and fluid temperature monitoring
Please note: The stainless steel probe is suitable for immersion applications and outdoor environments.

Common Questions

Can I connect multiple DS18B20 sensors together?

Yes. Multiple DS18B20 sensors can share one data line because each sensor has a unique 64-bit address.

Why does my sensor read 85°C or −127°C?

This usually means the pull-up resistor is missing or the wiring is incorrect. Make sure a 4.7kΩ resistor is connected between VCC and DATA.

Is the probe fully waterproof?

The stainless steel probe and cable joint are waterproof and suitable for immersion. The bare wire end should still be protected from moisture.

Does it work with ESPHome and Home Assistant?

Yes, the DS18B20 is fully supported in ESPHome using the built-in Dallas temperature component.

Please note: Compatible with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32, ESPHome, and other 1-Wire capable platforms.
