This is an aluminium GT2 timing pulley with 20 teeth, a 5mm bore and a slot for 6mm wide belt, the same drive pulley used on the X and Y axes of most 3D printers and plenty of small CNC and linear builds. GT2 means a 2mm tooth pitch, so it runs on standard 2GT / GT2 6mm belt. Twin flanges keep the belt centred, and two M3 grub screws lock it firmly onto a 5mm motor shaft so it holds position under load instead of slipping.

How to fit it

Slide the pulley onto your 5mm motor shaft and line one grub screw up with the flat on the shaft. Set the pulley height so it matches the idler and the belt path, then tighten both M3 grub screws with a 1.5mm hex key, the one on the flat first. Fit your 6mm GT2 belt between the flanges and tension it so it is firm with no sag.

Frequently asked questions

Will this fit my 3D printer?

Most Cartesian printers like the Ender 3, CR-10 and Prusa i3 drive their X and Y belts with a 20 tooth GT2 pulley on a 5mm motor shaft, which is exactly this part. If your printer uses a different tooth count or a wider 9mm belt, check before ordering.

What belt does it use?

Standard 2GT / GT2 belt in the 6mm width, the most common belt on 3D printers and small CNC gantries. It will not suit a 9mm or 10mm wide belt.

Does it come with grub screws?

Yes, two M3 grub screws come fitted in the hub. You tighten them onto the flat of your motor shaft with a 1.5mm hex key to lock the pulley in place. The hex key is not included.

Will it fit a NEMA 17 stepper?

Yes. A NEMA 17 stepper has a 5mm output shaft and this pulley has a 5mm bore, so it slides straight on. Line a grub screw up with the flat on the shaft for the firmest hold.

Is it aluminium or steel?

It is machined aluminium alloy, which keeps the rotating mass low and is the usual choice for a printer drive pulley. The teeth are cut clean for smooth, low backlash belt engagement.
