Type A eccentric spacer for adjustable V-slot wheels, with a 5mm bore, an 8mm hex and a 7mm boss that sits in the carriage plate hole. The bore is slightly off-centre, so turning the hex with an 8mm spanner moves the wheel in or out against the extrusion and takes the wobble out of the carriage. Sold singly.

What's in the box

Eccentric spacer, Type A

Sold singly. Screw, wheel and nut are not included.

Great for

Replacing a lost spacer

Swap out a missing or rounded eccentric spacer on a V-slot carriage with a 7mm plate hole.

Making a wheel adjustable

Turn a fixed wheel position into an adjustable one on a DIY gantry, CNC or laser frame.

Carriage rebuilds

Fit new spacers alongside fresh 625ZZ POM V-slot wheels when you rebuild a carriage.

Fitting & getting started

  1. Seat the boss

Push the 7mm boss into the carriage plate hole, with the hex on the wheel side.

  2. Assemble the wheel

Pass an M5 screw through the wheel, the spacer and the plate, and fit the nut on the far side. Snug it so the hex can still turn.

  3. Set the preload

Turn the hex with an 8mm spanner until the wheel just grips the extrusion. The wheel should still turn by hand with light drag and the carriage should not rock.

  4. Lock it

Hold the hex still, tighten the nut, then recheck the wheel. Our V-slot wheel adjustment guide covers the whole carriage.

Note: If your old spacer takes a 10mm spanner or is noticeably longer than 8.5mm, it is a larger type and this one will not swap straight in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Will it match the spacer on my printer?
Check three sizes on your old one. This Type A spacer takes an 8mm spanner, has a 6mm tall hex and a 7mm boss that sits in the plate hole, with a 5mm bore and 8.5mm overall. If your old spacer takes a 10mm spanner or is longer, it is a larger type and needs a matching replacement.
How many do I need?
One for each adjustable wheel. A three-wheel carriage usually has one eccentric wheel and a four-wheel plate usually has two; the other wheels sit on plain spacers. Four or more get 25% off, ten or more 35% off.
Which way do I turn it?
Either way. The offset bore moves the wheel towards the extrusion for half a turn and away for the other half, so turn the smallest amount that removes the play, then lock the nut.
Is a screw or nut included?
No, this is the spacer only. It suits a standard M5 screw long enough to pass through the wheel, the spacer and the plate with room for the nut.
Does it suit the 625ZZ POM V-slot wheel?
Yes. The 5mm bore lines up with the 5mm bearing bore of our 625ZZ POM V-slot wheel on a common M5 screw.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
