A single-row male pin header with 40 right-angle pins at the standard 2.54mm (0.1 inch) spacing. Each pin is bent 90 degrees, so when the strip is soldered to a board the connector pins point out sideways, parallel to the board. That suits side-entry plugs such as a USB-to-serial adaptor, and connections that need to stay low inside an enclosure. It snaps to any length. For pins that stand straight up from the board, use the straight 1x40 header.

Great for
Wiring & getting started
- Snap to length
Count the pins you need, then bend the strip at the notch with flat-nose pliers or your fingers. It breaks cleanly between two pins. Side cutters work too if you cut in the notch, not through a pin.
- Fit it to the board
Push the bent legs down through the holes from the top of the board, so the plastic sits flat on the board and the straight pins point out past the edge.
- Solder and check
Solder one end leg from underneath, check the strip is flat and square to the edge, then solder the rest. Keep each joint quick so the plastic does not soften, and check for bridges between neighbouring pins.
- Connect
Plug a female header or female Dupont jumper wires onto the pins from the side.
Note: the connector pins point sideways, so a module fitted with this header will not plug down into a breadboard. Use the straight version for that.
