Wiring & getting started

  1. Disconnect power

Isolate the circuit before fitting or wiring the switch.

  2. Connect in series

Place the two terminals in series with the conductor being switched. The terminals are not polarised.

  3. Check the action

Use an unpowered continuity test to confirm the selected momentary or latching action before energising the circuit.

Note: Published cut-out dimensions for lookalike DS429 switches conflict. Measure the supplied switch and make a trial opening before machining a finished panel. The moulded electrical ratings are identification markings, not evidence of approval or suitability for a particular installation. For mains work, a suitably qualified person must confirm the component, enclosure, wiring, insulation and protection are compliant. Low-voltage use is recommended unless that assessment has been completed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

What is the difference between momentary and latching?
The momentary version closes the contact only while you hold the button. The latching version stays on after one press and turns off after the next press.
Does terminal polarity matter?
No. The two switch terminals are not polarised, so either terminal can go on either side of the conductor being switched.
Is this sold individually?
Yes. The Shopify listing price is for one black switch in the action you select.
Can I use it on mains voltage?
The body is marked 3A 125VAC and 1A 250VAC, but those markings do not prove approval or suitability for your installation. Low-voltage use is recommended unless a suitably qualified person confirms the full installation is compliant.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
