End-of-line colour run. This is our earlier collar-colour set. The ferrules are brand new, and the size and collar colour for each option are shown below. The current range uses different collar colours.
Insulated bootlace ferrules, also called cord end terminals, crimp onto the stripped end of stranded wire to give a clean solid pin that will not fray, splay or work loose. They are the proper way to land stranded cable into a screw terminal, and DIN-rail blocks, breakers, contactors and terminal strips all hold a ferrule far more reliably than bare strands. Four sizes in this older colour run, sold per piece so you buy only what the job needs.

Great for
Crimping & getting started
- Match the ferrule to the wire
Go by the mm² or AWG figure of your conductor, not by the collar colour. On this run the colours are the old ones and do not line up with the colours on our current listing.
- Strip to the barrel length
Take off just enough insulation that the copper fills the metal barrel and the strands stop at the far end without poking out past it.
- Twist and insert
Give the strands a light twist so none splay off, then push the wire in until the insulation meets the plastic collar.
- Crimp with a ferrule tool
Use a bootlace ferrule crimper, which forms a square or hex crimp along the barrel. A standard spade or ring terminal crimper will crush the barrel flat and will not hold properly.
- Check the pull
Tug the wire firmly. A good crimp will not move. Land the finished pin in the terminal and torque the screw down onto the barrel, not onto the collar.
Note: Treat the collar colour on this run as cosmetic and go by the size in the variant name, because these colours do not match the ones shown on our current bootlace ferrule listing. The 1.5mm² E1508 in this run also has a slightly larger collar and body than the E1508 we stock now, so check the available space first if you are landing into a tightly packed terminal block. All four sizes still take the same wire they always did.
