Every sealed box eventually needs a cable going into it, and this is the fitting that lets one through without letting the weather back in. Drill a 20mm hole, push the gland through, do the lock nut up on the inside, then run your cable and tighten the dome nut. That squeezes a rubber insert down onto the cable so it seals and grips at the same time, which means the joint inside the box never takes the strain if someone pulls on the lead. It suits round cable from 6mm up to 12mm across, so it covers most flex, low voltage runs and sensor leads. Black nylon, lock nut and panel gasket in the pack, sold as singles so you buy exactly what the enclosure needs.

How to fit it
- Drill a 20mm hole
A step drill or 20mm hole saw in the enclosure wall. Deburr it so the gasket sits flat.
- Mount the gland
Slide the gasket onto the thread, push it through from the outside, then run the lock nut on from the inside and tighten.
- Run the cable
Back the dome nut off, feed the cable through, and leave a little slack inside the box.
- Seal it up
Tighten the dome nut with a 27mm spanner until the insert closes onto the cable, then give the cable a tug to check it is held.
Good to know: the IP68 rating depends on the install - the cable needs to sit inside the 6-12mm range, the gasket needs a clean flat face to seal against, and the dome nut needs to be properly tightened. This is a mechanical cable entry rather than an electrical connector, so it carries no current or voltage rating of its own, and any mains work still needs to follow NZ wiring rules and be done or checked by a registered electrician.
