A brass drop-in nozzle for E3D Volcano-style hotends, with an M6 thread for 1.75mm filament. The Volcano's longer melt zone heats a bigger column of filament, so it pushes much higher flow than a standard V6 nozzle, ideal for fast printing, thick layers and large-format parts. Brass has the best thermal conductivity of any nozzle material, so it heats fast and keeps up on everyday, non-abrasive filaments. Pick your tip: 0.2mm or 0.3mm for fine detail, 0.6mm for crisp everyday work, 0.8mm for a balanced faster print, or 1.0mm and 1.2mm for maximum high-flow output. Fits straight in, no modifications needed.

Changing your nozzle

  1. Heat the hotend

Bring it up to around 200 to 230C so any filament in the nozzle is soft.

  2. Hold the heater block

Grip the block with a spanner or pliers so it cannot twist, then unscrew the old nozzle.

  3. Fit the Volcano nozzle

Screw the new nozzle in while the hotend is still hot.

  4. Snug against the heatbreak

Tighten it firmly against the heatbreak, not the heater block, to prevent leaks.

Common questions

What is a Volcano nozzle?

A Volcano nozzle is longer than a standard V6 nozzle, giving it an extended melt zone. That means more filament is molten at once, so it can flow much faster. Volcano nozzles are the go-to for high-speed printing, large layer heights and big-format prints. It uses the same M6 thread as a V6 but is not interchangeable with a V6, it needs a Volcano heater block.

Which tip size should I choose?

0.2mm and 0.3mm are the finest tips for detail, even on a Volcano. 0.6mm is a great everyday size. 0.8mm steps up flow for faster, stronger prints. 1.0mm and 1.2mm have the widest bores for maximum high-flow, large-format and structural printing with thick layers.

Will this fit my hotend?

It fits E3D Volcano-style hotends and compatible clones that use the Volcano nozzle format with an M6 thread. It will not fit a standard V6 or an MK8 hotend, those use different nozzle lengths.

Why choose brass?

Brass has the best thermal conductivity of the common nozzle materials, so it heats quickly and transfers heat efficiently, which matters most on a high-flow Volcano. It is the ideal, best-value choice for everyday non-abrasive filaments like PLA, PETG, ABS and TPU.

Can I print abrasive filaments with it?

Not recommended. Brass wears quickly with abrasive filaments (carbon fibre, glow-in-the-dark, metal- or wood-fill), so for those use a hardened steel Volcano nozzle instead.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
