The WAGO 221-412 joins two wires in one small clear block, with no tools. Lift a lever, push the stripped wire in and close the lever; lift it again to take the wire back out. Each port takes solid or stranded copper from 0.2 to 4 mm² and fine-stranded flex from 0.14 to 4 mm², so 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5 mm² TPS and appliance flex all fit, and you can join flex to solid cable without ferrules. The clear housing shows when each wire is fully in. Use them to extend or repair a cable run, connect a light fitting or downlight, or join LED strip and low-voltage DC wiring. Joining more than two wires? The WAGO 221-413 takes three and the WAGO 221-415 takes up to five. Sold individually, with quantity discounts from 5.

Wiring & getting started

  1. Turn the power off

    Isolate the circuit and check it is dead before handling the wires.

  2. Strip the wire

    Remove 11 mm of insulation without nicking the copper.

  3. Lift, insert and close

    Raise the lever fully, push the wire all the way in, then press the lever back down.

  4. Check it

    Look through the housing to make sure the copper is fully in, then give the wire a gentle tug.

Note: Use copper wire only. Mains wiring must follow New Zealand electrical rules and be done or checked by a licensed electrician.

Are these genuine WAGO?
Yes. These are genuine WAGO 221-412 COMPACT lever connectors, the same part electricians use, not a lookalike. If you are comparing prices, check the part number: 221-412 is the 2-port size of the 221 series.
Will it take 2.5 mm² TPS or appliance flex?
Yes. Each port takes solid or stranded copper from 0.2 to 4 mm² and fine-stranded flex from 0.14 to 4 mm², so 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5 mm² TPS and flex all fit. Fine-stranded flex goes straight in without a ferrule. Strip 11 mm.
Can I join flex to solid cable?
Yes. Each port has its own lever, so you can put fine-stranded flex in one side and solid house cable in the other.
Can I reuse them?
Yes. Lift a lever to release a wire and re-clamp it as often as you like, which makes them handy for testing and temporary joins.
Are they rated for 230V mains?
Yes. They are rated 32A at 450V, so they suit 230V lighting and power circuits when the cable is sized for the load. Mains work in New Zealand must follow the wiring rules and be done or checked by a licensed electrician.
Which WAGO size do I need?
Count the wires you are joining. Two wires: this 221-412. Up to three: the 221-413. Up to five: the 221-415. All three take the same wire range, so you can use them side by side in one job.
