The WAGO 221-412 is a compact reusable lever connector for joining two copper conductors. Lift each orange lever, insert the stripped conductor fully, then close the lever. The clear housing makes the conductor position easy to inspect, and the connection can be reopened when wiring changes.

Wiring & getting started

  1. Isolate power

Disconnect and verify power is off before handling conductors.

  2. Strip the conductor

Remove 11 mm of insulation without nicking the copper.

  3. Lift and insert

Raise the lever fully and push the conductor all the way into the port.

  4. Close and check

Lower the lever, inspect the conductor through the housing, then gently tug-check the connection.

Note: Use copper conductors only. Mains installation must follow New Zealand wiring rules and be completed or checked by a suitably qualified person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Are these genuine WAGO?
Yes. These are genuine WAGO 221-412 COMPACT splicing connectors from WAGO Kontakttechnik (Minden, Germany), not a lookalike. WAGO lists the 221-412 as a 2-conductor splicing connector with operating levers, suitable for all conductor types up to 4 mm², with a transparent housing and a T85 temperature rating. The levers are stamped WAGO 221 and the body is marked cULus, AWG 24-12, 0.14/0.2-4mm², 450V/32A.
What is the difference between the 221-412, 221-413 and 221-415?
Only the number of ports. The 221-412 joins two wires, the 221-413 joins three and the 221-415 joins five. Wire range, current rating and lever action are identical across all three, so pick whichever matches the number of conductors in the joint.
Can I reuse them?
Yes. Lift a lever to release a wire and re-clamp it as often as you like, which makes them handy for testing and temporary joins.
What wire can they take?
Solid and stranded from 0.2-4mm² (roughly 24-12 AWG), and fine-stranded from 0.14mm², with or without a ferrule. You can put a stranded flex in one side and solid house wire in the other.
Are they safe for mains wiring?
They are rated 32A at 450V for solid and stranded conductors and the body carries cULus approval markings. Mains work still needs to follow NZ wiring rules and be done or checked by a registered electrician.

Why Buy from NZN

Useful parts, fair prices and someone local to help.

I'm Lukas, an engineering student and maker based in Te Awamutu. NZN grew out of a CNC build that dragged on for months because every missing cable, bolt or electronic part meant another overseas order. I started the shop so Kiwi makers can spend more time building and less time waiting for the next parcel.
